Christ-Centered Community

Being part of a Christian community is more than going to church on Sunday.  It is important to develop appropriate Christ-centered relationships within the Body of Christ.  This is part of the essential “connective tissue” essential to our walk.

Proverbs 27:17 NASB reads, “Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another.”

Fellowship allows all of us to develop each other in Jesus.  It also allows us to be there for each other in times of need.  To learn to pray for one another.  In fact, all of the qualities and characteristics demonstrated by the Love of our Father for us, reflected through Christ Jesus, are perfect instruction about how we are to be toward one another.

Christ-Centered Outreach

Matthew 7:12 (NASB) reads, “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”

This sounds so simple.  So why do we hurt each other so much?  Why is there so much hate in the world?  Shouldn’t the Body of Christ be demonstrating His kind of love to the world?  Where do we learn to do this?

Part of the answer is found in our fellowship.  This is an essential foundation to prepare and practice the kind of love our Lord demonstrated for the lost.  Simply put, fellowship is an equipping ground.

Our Lord gave us the great commission in Matthew 28:16-30.  Verse 18-20 (NASB) reads, “And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’”

If we aren’t equipping ourselves, how can we expect to be used by Jesus to carry His Gospel to the lost?

HCJC Fellowship

We promote the development of appropriate relationships within the Body of Christ.  You are not alone.  Like other Christ-Centered communities we want to cultivate groups for men, women, couples, and groups of all ages.  While important, there is more.
HCJC wants to develop affinity areas where the skills and talents provided by our Lord can be refined and developed along side our brothers and sisters into the creation of things that glorify our Father!

This means things like shows for heavy metal, hip-hop, or name your genera.  Arts and crafts.  Culinary arts, and basic cooking.  Book clubs.  Outdoor activities like camping, hiking, mountain biking, and more.  The possibilities are huge, because we have a God of abundance, Who, has made such a wide variety of people with such a wide variety of interests.

All of this is to say that HCJC is about pushing the edge in the right way, a Christ-Centered way.  This isn’t about putting in time in a boring church service.  This is about craving the next time you get to go to church or fellowship with other believers!
